For years Bridge Prep co-founders, Jeffrey and Jacqulyn Lockett, searched throughout the greater Houston area for a school that would meet the needs of their son, a bright student with a learning difference. They wanted to find a program that would provide accommodations for his academic challenges, recognize his inherent strengths and interests as tools to help him succeed academically, and promote a Biblical worldview. Unfortunately, this program did not exist.
As educators with combined experience of more than 30 years in public and private education, the Locketts knew they were not alone in this need. They encountered many families with bright, creative, and capable children who struggled in a traditional school setting. While well-meaning schools provided rigorous academics, they either offered limited to no individual accommodations, or the accommodations went far beyond the needs of these students. The Locketts felt called to take action on behalf of these unique learners.
Bridge Preparatory Academy opened its doors in August 2015, and remains the only Christian private school for students with learning differences in Richmond, TX. Our combination of research-based instructional practices, personalized academic plans, high expectations of all students, and an emphasis on Biblical character development continues to serve as a springboard for students to experience academic growth and personal achievement.
Bridge Prep is also a member of the International Dyslexia Association, the Special Schools Coalition of Houston, and the Fort Bend Private School Alliance.
